About us

We are a small team, but our industry experience is enormous and our skill set is mighty! Here you can find out a little more about the team at the heart of Design Couch – a creative freelance co-operative.

We combine the creative benefits of working with talented, market-savvy freelancers with the customer-centred ethos of an agency – resulting in brilliant design and creative solutions, without paying the earth. Our team methodology ensures there is always someone on hand, so you have great service delivery, all year round.
TRACY – Creative Lead
Tracy (T) leads the Design Couch team. With expansive experience in the industry (including board level) spanning 25 years, working for both national and international clients, T is our brand, design and messaging guru. Her super-skills include an impossibly-honed eye for detail and a love of communicating to a target audience through colour, form and language. In addition to her creative skills, she also started a national cancer charity 12 years ago and is an advisory non-exec board member of two other national charities, so she really understands the everyday challenges faced by not-for-profit organisations.
When not designing, you can find her painting in the studio at the bottom of her garden, running up a dress, tap dancing, browsing her expansive collection of Converse trainers (she loves shoes) or marrying people (as an accredited Humanist Celebrant).
FAV LEGO:  Diagon Alley – especially Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes.
KEITH – Senior Designer
A multi-talented creative designer with a background in fine art, Keith has over 20 years’ in the industry. He has a myriad of experience across the whole gamut of studio skills, from print, digital and social design, through to motion and graphics projects. Keith’s passion and creativity are always at the core of his work, resulting in thoughtful, clear and concise solutions to client briefs.
That passion also translates to his hobbies, from noodling on his guitar to vinyl collecting and listening to heavy metal, he would be the first to admit that his music tastes are on the weird side of eclectic. When he is not slaving to 3 diva cats he loves to be in front of a movie – he really has seen too many!
FAV LEGO:  UCS Millennium Falcon – all 7541 pieces of it!
TIM – Creative Artworker
Tim is an exceptional artwork magician, with over 15 years’ experience working on high-level, multi-component projects for some of the world’s biggest publishers and brands. His hard core artworking experience ranges from print to experiential and he is an excellent all-round problem solver. On top of this he is our Adobe and IT specialist. We think he dreams in style sheets.
Away from the day job, Tim’s usually knee deep in soil as he has two allotments which keep him busy all year round (he's a very handy person to know if you like courgettes). When he’s not pottering about at the allotment, he can be found sitting by a lake or river, dreaming of catching a monster fish. He’s also an avid Spurs fan and enjoys the odd game on his Xbox.
FAV LEGO:  Any Lego Technics – especially the cars.
CATHERINE – Graphic Designer
A passionate typophile, Catherine’s specialism is design for print, from magazines to coffee table books. With a degree in typography, she’ll separate your hyphens from your en-rules. Her background as a cartographer means she is also our go-to designer for anything icon based – translating even the most complex information into easily understandable graphic content.
Off-duty, Catherine loves to nurture wildlife and is an official Hedgehog re-homer for the famous Tiggywinkles Wildlife Hospital. At home, she loves to while away the hours in her garden or to travel further afield for adventure in her camper van, armed with her paddle board – all a long way from her time in the army. (She is still really good at marching though!)
FAV LEGO:  One of the lovely Botanical Collection.
MAXINE – Graphic Designer
With an expansive background in design for education, Maxine brings structured designs to life with a combination of typographic hierarchy and outside-the-box creative thinking. She is also brilliant at messaging, thanks in part to an incredible (and sometimes a little unusual) tangent brain!
Outside of work Maxine is always busy creating – she is an incredible potter and ceramicist, exhibiting and selling her wonderful pieces at art shows and in local artisan shops. When not in her pottery studio, she can be found with her family and little pug, Paris, exploring archaeological sites and walking the Ridgeway.
FAV LEGO: Any of the amazing Historical sets.
